$58,330 (Depending on Qualifications)Under general supervision, the Environmental Inspector II performs advanced technical work for Gloucester County Environmental Programs in the area of inspection and compliance, consistent with the County's environmental programs ordinances, and regulations.
May be assigned to varying areas of emphasis (i.
e.
, wetlands, stormwater, erosion and sediment control, Chesapeake Bay) based upon the needs of the organization.
Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgment in performing inspections and exercise considerable tact, courtesy, and firmness in frequent contact with property owners, contractors, and the public.
Reports to the Environmental Programs Manager.
Job Highlights Serves as staff liaison to the Gloucester County Wetlands Board.
Coordinates with local, state, and federal agencies with regards to the Gloucester County Wetlands Zoning Ordinance and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance.
Conducts final inspections on site developments.
Processes land disturbance applications for compliance with the County's Erosion and Sediment (E&S) Ordinance.
Assists in the plan review process evaluating for compliance with local, state, and federal environmental requirements.
Performs routine inspections of stormwater drainage structures and construction sites.
Performs inspections of County projects to ensure compliance with project plans.
Represents and as assigned by the Environmental Programs Manager, Environmental Programs in communities and groups as assigned by the Environmental Programs Manager.
Performs other related work as required.

Environmental Inspector II-A Qualifications Associates degree in engineering science, engineering technology, biology, environmental science, or related field.
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in erosion and sediment control inspection with three (3) to five (5) years of environmental or local government experience.
Experience with and knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act and regulations regarding tidal and non-tidal wetlands is desired.
