Benefits Coordinator-Financial

Position Purpose:
The Accountant reports to the Controller.
Maintains and monitors activity relevant to the benefits for payroll and verifies various benefits business transactions.
Analyzes data and reviews financial records while using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Primary Duties:
Download monthly benefit invoices and reconcile to HR/Payroll system information; notification to Human Resources for corrections needed (creating process/workbook each year when changes occur for vendors or payroll systems) Create monthly self-bill invoices for certain benefits based on annual provider agreement Submit benefit invoices to PaperSave for approval and payment processing Verify all insurance rates in system after Open Enrollment Verify and track employee benefits arrears withholding for accurate completion Monthly Health and Welfare fringe calculation for submission to GSA Ensure that Contract Inventory (fringe rate changes) are reflected in prior period fringe calculations as needed and new monthly calculations Perform Fringe vs.
Premium review to determine if MISC deduction is required Perform bi-weekly Hawaii hours review for medical eligibility compliance Provide guidance/assistance for completion of corrections to benefits in HR/Payroll system Coordinate annual fringe audit process Perform monthly reporting for ALMA workers' compensation insurance Monthly review of COBRA participants Qualifications/Skills Knowledge& Abilities:
Education:
Associate degree in accountancy or finance with evidence of substantial post-graduate education and training.
Experience:
Two to Three years of accounting or finance experience.
Skills Knowledge& Abilities:
Ability to administer a systems approach.
Knowledge of benefits and payroll processing, general bookkeeping procedures and office administration procedures Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures, including fiscal, personnel, management information, facilities management, reimbursements/ billing/ and other aspects of administration.
Knowledge of the organization's programs and services.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
